REMARKS BY AMBASSADOR İSMAİL HAKKI MUSA DELİVERED AT THE CLOSING CEREMONY OF THE “JUMPING ANTWERPEN 2012”
İsmail Hakkı Musa 28.04.2012
Mr. President of Organizing Committee,
Ladies and Gentleman,
This is a great honor and privilege for me to be here this evening.
We have the pleasure to be the “partner land” of Jumping Antwerpen 2012, one of the prestigious equestrian competitions of Europe.
The Turkish community of approximately 220.000 people, half of whom living in the Flemish region, is proud of this major event.
I believe that this will contribute to further develop the deep-rooted bilateral relations between Belgium and Turkey.
I am confident that our support as the “partner land” of Jumping Antwerpen will also create a different atmosphere in bringing Belgian and Turkish business circles together.
For our people, horse is an important symbol and also riding is considered as a national sport which is a heritage from our fore fathers.
On this special occasion I would recall that sport is one of the best instruments to develop relations and promote friendship. This bears particular significance between Turkey and Belgium, while we approach the 50th year of the beginning of Turkish migration.
Last but not least, I would like to thank Mr. Janssens, the Mayor of Antwerpen and the members of the Organizing Committee.
I would also thank our Undersecretary, Ambassador Ilıcak of honoring us, and coming for this occasion.
I would specially thank our General Consul, Deniz Çakar for excellent job she has done before and during the Jumping Antwerpen 2012.
